A convicted sex offender was arrested Wednesday for online solicitation of a child according to the Brown County Jail log.
Nicholas Dewayne Sterling, 21, of Zephyr, was arrested following an investigation that started July 31 by the Department of Public Safety.
According to the affidavit, Sterling was originally under investigation for not registering a proper address as a sex offender which he was required to do for life following a conviction for sexual assault of a child in 2018.
The investigation revealed that Sterling had allegedly been using an alias and contacting a 14-year-old female via social media and sending sexually explicit photographs and videos. Criminal charges have been filed and the affidavit states Sterling admitted to online solicitation of a minor, a third degree felony on July 22.
Sterling remains in custody at the Brown County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
